Media Issues

Each night we put in a new tape into the backup drive, if we look under the device, instead of displaying the tape that is in the drive, it shows all the tapes that are in the pool. However, many of the media labels have non-legible characters. I have to renames the tape each night. Once the naming procedure is completed, it displays properly in the device listing. Please let me know what I might have done wrong.

If the tape is inserted without using import/export command from backup exec, it will not have any knowledge regarding the new tape unless you run an inventory.
