Hello everyone,

I am new to this product.

In my new organisation we are using Symantec backup Exec 12.5 for back up. we have one media server and taking back up in nas Drive on network.

I just want to know is it possible to add another server to it so in case of failure of one server we have the another server to continue the back up and we can recover failed server.

if yes please help me out.

Thanks and regards

Aditya

3 things depending upon the criticality of your environment

1> If you are running the backups 24*7 and can't afford any downtime then you can install the BE in cluster as pe the coument below.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO11618

2> But if you are not running the backup all the time and your environment is not that big then you can always rebuild your BE in 1-2 hours depending upon how big is the environment.

3> Best way is to have one server ready as offline with same OS,same server name and BE version installed as into production. When your production goes down just restore the data and catalog folders.

For this you have to make sure you take backup of data and catalog folder on regular basis or everyday. Please search as there are lot of links about the same.
