Media overwrite

I?am having a problem that is annoying more then a problem. I have a dell tape library which I have 5 tapes in the cartridge. I want to use 1 tape for each day of the week excluding Saturday and Sunday. I have three sets of 5 tapes (Media Set 1, Media Set 2, Media Set 3). I put a one week overwrite protection on each media set, but every morning when I come in I have an alert asking if it should overwrite media.


How do I get it to overwrite media if the last write was over a week ago without waiting for my input?

Actually if I could get it write Monday to slot 1 Tuesday to slot 2?etc?.regardless of overwrite protection without prompt.

What is the Overwrite Protection Period for the media set(s) involved

If you have three sets of tapes, and will reuse them every third week I would suggest a retention period of 19 or 20 days, not three weeks

If you really want Monday to go to Slot 1, Tuesday to slot 2 etc, you can set up partitions, and create or modify jour jobs to point to the partition rather than the loader as a whole See

I have not tried partitions yet, but I have a 1 week overwrite and a one day append period, but still with prompt......I need to get rid of the (with prompt) message at the bottom ......Why does is say that my media over write is set to none with prompt when it is set to 1 week, and where do you change the "with Prompt" part?
