I have read the KB article here: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH67768
We wish to upgrade BE11d 7170 to BE2010 and also move the installation to a new server, retaining all settings, etc. The old server is Win2003R2 x86. New server will be Win2008R2 (x64).
The plan was to upgrade BE11d to BE2010 on the old server first. Then install/move the BackupExec installation to the new 2008R2 server.
Reading this article makes me a little nervous, as it states.
"Do not follow this procedure if any of the following are true:
The computer where Backup Exec is installed and the computer where it will be installed are running two different versions of the Windows Operating System."
"If any of the above mentioned conditions are true, this procedure cannot be performed and Backup Exec will need to be re-installed and re-configured"
So, is it impossible to do what I had planned? OR Is the procedure outlined in this article just not what I need to follow?
Basically, can I move BE2010 from Win2003R2 (x86) to Win2008R2 on a new server and also retain all settings, etc.?
If it is possible, is there another article that I should be referencing?
Thanks,
David

Hello
The migration works fine even though the article states that migration is not
possible from win 2003 to 2008. Follow the same article and do take a backup
of the DATA & CATALOGS folder.
