Network timeouts

When remotely backing up other servers using version 9.1 we often have the backup hang and fail if a network timeout occurs. Is there a way to configure backup exec to move on to the next server after a certain time instead of hanging on one and causing the whole backup to fail.

Hello,

Please try breaking this one backup job job into multiple jobs.

Also please let us know the exact network error that you receive while backing up remote servers

Thanks,

This is the error, but it is not always the same server that stops it nor does it happen every night. All servers are on the same 3com switch and those logs show no issues. Is there a way to set the backup exec to move on to the next remote server in the list after a set amount of time

The backup should fail since a resource selected for backup cannot be backed up. As far as the hanging issue, there is a timeout built in to the connection to the remote agent that must expire before moving on the the next resource. I believe the timeout for the connection is hard coded and cannot be modified.

Hello,

Please refer to the following technote

(title) A timeout occurred waiting for data from the agent during operation shutdown" or "The network connection to the Backup Exec Remote Agent has been lost. Check for network errors" (a00084f8 HEX or e00084f8 HEX) is reported during a backup operation.
