Newbie questions regarding tape drive and BE

Dan_I

I have Backup Exec installed on a Dell PowerEdge 2800.  The tape drive is not visible as a drive when using exployer and I can't determine whether BE is finding it either.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You will not see the tape drive as a device in Windows Explorer

From the Devices Tab, you should see your tape drive.

If not, you can download the latest driver pack and see if that will install it

Thank you for the response.  If I have a number of backups that were sent to a disk folder how do I then copy them to the tape drive?

Two ways

1)  Do a regular COPY backup of the BKF files.  If you do this and delete the disk files,  you will need to restore the BKF files to a B2D folder, inventory them, then catalog them before  you can restore from them

2)  Run a DUPLICATE job.  if you do it this way, you can restore directly from tape.

Typical - you see a post to respond to, and by the time you're logged in, Ken's answered it!
