Openserver 5.0.7 with multiple network interfaces

We have a SCO Openserver 5.0.7 server with 2 network interfaces and we are attempting to back up using Veritas Backup Exec For Windows Servers version 9.0 on a Windows 2000 server at 192.168.77.2. The only version of the remote agent we can find that says it is for SCO Openserver is Version 5.01 Revision 3.312.

With that version, we have the following in agent.cfg:

name blue
force_address 192.168.77.20
password newday
export / as root password newday
tell EISTU
tell_interval 30
exclude_dir /dev
exclude_dir /var/spool/lp/FIFOS

The 192.168.77.20 address is the second network interface (net1). The primary network interface is 192.168.50.20 (net0) and is only 100MB, so we are wanting to use the 1000MB interface, net1.

So, as it turns out, a packet trace shows that the remote agent is doing its "tells" from 192.168.50.20, the net0 interface, but they are being sent to the Windows server at 192.168.77.2. But when the Windows server trys to ack back to the 50 address, it fails and the Windows server thinks that the SCO server does not have an agent installed.

Next we installed the Unixware version of the agent that is version 5.01 Revision 5.046. Using the same configuration file, it actually binds to the 192.168.77.20 address and communicates successfully to "tell" the windows server that it is present. Then the server shows up in the selections on the windows server veritas under the "Unix Agents" tree branch. That is all great until we try to expand the node for this server. It says that there is a communication error. So, the Unixware version is obviously not Openserver compatible.

We have not been able to find a more current version of the agent that supports Openserver, especially 5.0.7. Is there such a version? Is the remote agent source code available somewhere so that we could attempt to fix the program? Is there information available on the remote agent protocol that we could use to write our own agent?

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi,

The SCO openserver 5.0.7 has not been exclusively tested with the Backup Exec v9.0 and v9.1 or v10. Hence we cannot guarantee, that the backup\restore will run correctly.

You may refer the software compatibility list for Backup Exce v9.0 and v9.1 and 10:.
