Recovery storage group and data duplication in first storage group

Hi,

I am trying to use Ex 2003 RSG to recover some mailbox data.

I am following all the guidlines, checking this datbase can be overwritten etc. But if I have the private and public stores mounted the data gets restored to the private store and the data is duplicated. If I dismount both stores the restore fails with cannot attach to the drive.

I thought Ex 2003 redirected the data if a RSG was present and ignored the private and public stores, I am not mounting the RSG should I do this?

What I can't understand is why the data is being duplicated in the private store rather than being placed in the RSG?

Any thoughts would be very welcome.

Are you restoring the whole Mailbox Store or individual mailboxes?

The RSG can only be used to restore whole mailbox stores - not individual mailboxes.

Thanks for your help, I was selecting the mailboxes amd not the store for the resore. As soon as I selected the store with the same name as the RSG store, bingo!
