Remote Agent stops after upgrade to version 12

After upgrading from Backup Exec 11d to 12, we seem to be experiencing a problem with the remote agent on a remote machine.
 
During the backup, the remote agent stops and the job fails.  On the remote server, an error shows up in the System Event Log (Event ID 7034 - The Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems service terminated unexpectedly).  The error in the job log is Final error: 0xe000fe30 - A Communications failure has occurred.  The backup seems to fail on the Exchange Public Folders.
 
  • Both servers are Windows 2003 Server R2
  • The remote Exchange server is running Exchange 2003 SP2

I have uninstalled the remote agent, rebooted, and reinstalled the remote agent and am getting the same error.  The backup job worked fine prior to the upgrade  The job and credentials have remained the same.

Any ideas?

Does Symantec read this postings, or is this literally just user-to-user?  I really really don't want to have to call in to support........

It is primarily User-to-User, but Symantec Employees read and post as their schedules permit  (and yeah, that sucks as a support model Smiley Mad Smiley Sad )
 
Did you upgrade the remote agent?  if so, try removing it and doing a clean install of the v12 code?
