Restore of Backup-to-Disk files will not catalog

We do backup-to-disk each night and roll them off to tape the next day. We keep a week of Full and Differential backups on the backup-to-disk devices.

When we restore a Backup-to-disk from tape, the files will inventory, but not catalog, so we are then unable to restore individual system files, since the Backup-to-Disk restore never shows up as available for restore.

Hello,

Are you cataloging the tape before running the restore operation? If not, you need to do so in order to restore. Refer to the following technote which gives more information on the same:
