We are using Backup Exec 2010 and storage device is about 12TB. We are now running out of disk space. I have bought a excternal USB disk.
Please advise what is the best way to take the copy to external drive and free up some space?
Thanks

Create a B2D folder on the new external hard disk and create a duplicate job to copy existing backup sets on storage device to external disk. Once the duplicate job is successfull remove the backup sets from exising storage within BE console and remove from windows explorer.
Reasons why backingup or copying backup to disk files are not recommended: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH176061

.....but, why your 12 TB device became FULL? Are you using such a long retention period or using Append with disk backups? Do not append disk backups instead overwrite always.

Thanks I will give this a go and let you how it goes....
retention period is not too long but I am not sure 12 TB is getting full. I go through the blog as well and see if we can reconfigure few things...
