SQL2005 backup support on x64 systems?

I notice that Hotfix 6 for BE 10d (10.1.5629) is supposed to provide support for SQL2005.

However it only provides updates for the agent install files in the RANT32 & RANT64 directories (11/11/05)

There still doesn't appear to be any SQL2005 support for the RANT64EX agent for x64 systems.

Is there likely to be support for SQL2005 on x64 systems by the time SQL2005 is released?
As we'd like to start using it then.

Thanks

Hello,

Please refer to my original message:

10.1.5629 Hotfix 6 - SQL 2005 (Yukon) support for Backup Exec 10d DOES NOT SUPPORT SQL2005 on x64 systems - only on Itanium systems

As SQL 2005 has now been released and I'd like to start using it I'd (and I'm sure a lot of others on this forum) would be very grateful if you could find out when SQL2005 support will be available in the agent for x64 systems (not Intel Itanium)

Many thanks

Hey Ortho,

I feel your pain, I've got 2 different threads going about this same subject. It took awhile for them to even admit they didn't include a x64 agent in 10d (you must use the older 10.0.5520 version). Here are the links to my 2 threads.

Thread: 10.1 Remote Agent for Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition (NOT IA64)
http://forums.veritas.com/discussions/thread.jspa?threadID=56374

And the SQL 2005 one (x64 talk starts on page 2)

Thread: Agent support for Microsoft SQL 2005?
http://forums.veritas.com/discussions/thread.jspa?threadID=55712

Maybe set your account to "watch" those threads as I'll be updating them when I get more info.

Hello,

Please log an enhancement request for this feature to be included in the future releases of Backup Exec at:

I logged an "enhancement request" some time ago for this issue that Veritas support has repeatedly (and innacurately) have said doesn't exist.

It's not an enhancement request, it's fixing basic functionallity that both you and your tech notes say should already exist anyway, but doesn't.

The question everybody is asking is when you're going to support SQL2005 on x64 systems, we're not expecting to be asked to log an "enhancement request" for functionallity you can hardly be unnaware that a great many of you customers have been requesting for quite some time.

The whole world, and especially Microsoft Gold Partners, have had copies of SQL 2005 for a long time, quite long enough to have done the work by now

Yes, my question has been answered

The answer is that you don't support what your own documentation says you support and that despite a very large number of your customers asking for this basic support over quite a long period of time you still have no idea when (or even if) the functionality will be implimented
