Bonjour,
Cordialement

Hi,
The Backup Exec Console is simply a way of getting onto your media server from your desktop/laptop. If you're using an account with insufficient rights to your media server, you're going to be restricted to what you want to do.
BE's DLO is what you should be using. You get 5 licenses free with your Backup Exec that you buy, and anything else needs to be licensed in packs.
I would suggest getting hold of the Backup Exec 2010 R2 Admin Guide, and reading up on Appendix Q...Symantec Backup Exec Desktop and Laptop Option. This will guide you on how to set it up correctly.

thanks a lot for your answer
i have an other question :
why can't we do the same thing with the "remote agent option" for the backup exec 12?
(the old version of backup exec 2010)
THe process of backup is totally different .
Thanks for your answer

DLO is not a full blown backup solution. It is meant to only backup user data, hence the way the backup is done is different from using a remote agent. It cannot be used to restore a machine because it does not backup the OS files, whereas the BE remote agent is capable of backing up any file and is capable of restoring a system. Because of this the remote agent licence is expensive compared to the DLO licence. If you want to, you can backup the user data using a remote agent, but you would not want to do so from a cost standpoint.
