Scheduled jobs disappear without running and without notification or event on Opteron server

Frido

Hello,

Some days, scheduled jobs disappear from the Job List.
No errors, alerts or events are issued in Backup Exec and in the Event Viewer MMC.

The only event that worries me is the following:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: MSSQL$BKUPEXEC
Event Category: (2)
Event ID: 17896
Date:  25-4-2007
Time:  10:32:25
User:  N/A
Computer: DVE-SERVER01
Description:
The time stamp counter of CPU on scheduler id 1 is not synchronized with other CPUs.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I hope somebody has a clue, or can point me to advanced debugging options.

TIA, Frido.

Frido,

The best place to find what is happening is the Audit Log.  You can find this under tools - Audit Log.

If the job deletion is not there, you may want to call into support to look into possible database issues.

Thanks.

The audit log was empty.

I did the following:
2. Selected Power Scheme "Server Balanced Processor Power and Performance":
Power Options > Power schemes > Server Balanced Processor Power and Performance

Before this, I had the event every hour. After this, I haven't seen the event for 16 hours now.

Let's see if no more jobs are deleted. This happened very randomly. About once every week.

Thanks for you help so far,

Frido.

We are having the same problem.

Our nightly backup is schedueld to run Mon-Thurs nights at midnight, but for the last 3 weeks the Monday night backup has not run, and there is no sign of any errors in the audit log.  All other nightly jobs that are controlled by this policy are running fine.

Before we leave for the evening the job is displayed in the Job Monitor, but when we check again in the morning, there is no sign of it!

We are running BE v11.0 Rev 6235 (with Hotfix 6 Installed) on a Win2003 Server.

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Patty,

It happened again, but only when I edit the policy.
So it looks like this issue: http://support.veritas.com/docs/287164
But I am running 7170 with all current hotfixes, so the fix should be implemented in my version.

Best regards,

Frido.

I've had a very similar issue but Hotfix 10 did not fix it. I'm running version 11.0d rev 6235 with all the updates as of 5/11. Pretty much the jobs are scheduled and they will run fine for awhile, then out of the blue in the Job Monitor window it will display, "Invalid Schedule" and not run. When I go into the job to check it, the schedule is no longer there and the "Run Now" is bubbled in. I thought I had this fixed with Hotfix 10 and it's been working fine now for a couple of months until this past Wednesday when it started doing it again. It doesn't do it to all of my jobs, just a few here and there. Very odd and VERY frustrating having to reschedule my jobs (which I do a year at a time).

I am running a fresh install of 11d rev 7170 w/ hotfixes 3,4 and 5 and just got the invalid schedule error.  This was on our CAS that has serveral MMS.  The jobs in this state show as set to Run now in the job properties and our schedules are gone.  Selecting run according to schedule and all our setup is gone.
