Selected Disk Space Requirements

Two questions here regarding disk space;

1.) How much disk space does the Remote Agent need to be able to function properly?

2.) How much disk space does the Registry need to be backed up?

1.) There is no specific requirement for this. You cann simply either push install or do a local install of the remote agent. Backup exec sotware does have minimum disk space requirements though.

2.) Are you referring to the disk space that will be required for a Registry backup? That will be a part of the system state backup. This will depend from OS to OS, installed applications, whether its a DC or not etc..

1 - He was not asking how to install the BackupExec Remote Agent. Can you please specify the BackupExec Remote Agent minimum disk space requirements?

2 - Yes, are there additional disk space requirements when backing up the full system state of a server?

On my system the agent takes up about 9.3Mbytes of diskspace. Thats only the files themselves. The process used by the agent, beremote.exe, takes about 24.4MByte of internal memory.

With regards to diskspace. This not really applies to BE but more to your OS. If your OS has little diskspace left for its swap file you will notice this in terms of performance problems. You will always need a far amount of free diskspace on your system disk. No matter what software is installed.

As said, this depends on the software installed whether it is a DC or not. Check the apropriate dat files and sysvol directory to get an idea of the size of the system state.
