Server Crashes loading service after Backup Exec 10d Install

Installed 10d on a Compaq ProLiant Server, Win2K Server O/S, patched and updated, etc. The server hard crashes while loading Backup Exec services (Specifically, it appears to crash loading the "Device & Media Service.

The system does a dump. Must then restart in Safe Mode and disable the service to boot Windows Server 2K O/S.

By the way, I also tried with my old v9 and had the same issue. Any ideas?

Hello,

What is the error message while starting the BE services?

Also perform the repair database.

Please refer the following technote:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/265180

Win2K event viewer does not write any error message, nor is there is any error given when starting the BE services - the system CRASHES on WIN2K O/S startup while loading the services (Specifically, I believe it is when loading the Device & Media Service).

I attempted the db repair per technote - and then restarted system... It still CRASHES on boot when starting BE service. Any other suggestions?

Thanks. Keith

Hi,

Try repairing backup exec installation:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/253199

Check if drwtsn32.log is generated on the system. Check what application/process is causing the crash. Refer:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/191218
