I would like to install SP2 for BE 9.1, but would like to know if there is anything special that needs to be done to any of my remote servers in regards to the Open File Agent or if anyone has experienced any problems with the latest Service Pack. Thanks.

Hello,

There are no known issues with Open file option and SP2 however after installing SP2 you will have to reinstall remote agents as mentioned in the technote:

Once the remote agent has been reinstalled, will the servers need to be rebooted?

you don't have to restart your server (or computer) when you push a new remote agent or upgrade it. If you push Advanced Open File agent for instance you will have to at some point.

Hello,

After doing a silent install of remote agent you will not have to reboot the server even if it prompts you can choose to reboot the server later, but it is recommended that you reboot the server once after the installation of remote agent.

I did a silent install of the remote agents, but DID NOT reboot the servers. I tried to do a test backup, but the job hung during the pre-processing stage, and i finally had to cancel the job. It was stuck in pre-processing for more than 30 minutes. Am i going to have to reboot the servers?

Hi Mark,

it is usually recommended that the server be rebooted after the remote agent has been reinstalled, so that the remote agent be updated. To check if the Service pack has been updated on the remote server, you can also check the version of the beremote.exe file.
