Service account help

Hi Folks,

My backups are failing because the service account password has expired.  Unfortunately, the service account is tied to an ex-employee. Does anyone know how I can get the service account reset and/or changed. Thanks!

Open the BE console, go to Tools - Services.
Then you will find a button "Service Credentials". Hit this and you can change the service account.

You can change service account credentials via backup exec services manager or directly from Windows Services Applet.

If using backup exec services manager click on services credentials and then add the new account details that you want to use. You need to restart all backup exec servicesonce you change the account.

Dear Mr. Ken:

One test that we usually make when Customers have account problems, specially with the services accounts, is to set all of these services to use a Local Account.

This, you must do by hand, opening Start-Run ad typing services.msc and locate all of the "Backup Exec..." services, opening their properties, and changing the logon tab to use the local account.

If you are able to start the services and the program, then you are sure that this is an account / credentials problem.

Do not leave the services using the local account, change them to a preferrably new active directory domain account with domain administrator rights.

Regards,
