Symantec BackupExec 2010 Query

Can you tell me if Symantec BackupExec 2010 can be installed on a

Windows 2003 Domain Controller?

 

We have read several documents and experienced ourselves that this can

not be done with previous version, however we have inherited a Domain

Controller & need to purchase a back-up product for it without 'demoting

the Domain Controller I Active Directory | which when we promote it we

will have to change it Computer name, and we are keen to avoid that

option.

Hello

Yes you can install BE 2010 on Win 2003 DC there is no issue with the DC.

Yes you can install the BE on the DC but it is recommended to have it on separate machine of its own because when you run the backups it uses the bandwidth and put the load on DC. So if you have enough memory and processor and don't think it will impact DC then you can install it.
