Hello, everyone.

I just installed Veritas Backup Exec Version 10.1, Build 5629 and applied the SP1 patch on Windows 2003 Server SP1 twice.
The Backup Exec main service failed to start with the following error.

Source: Backup Exec
Category: (65535)
Event ID: 57802
Description: The Backup Exec Server Service did not start. An internal
error (-536837661) occurred in object 11.

I did some search.
Symantec suggested that the service account be given security access to COM security. This suggestion did not work.
People sugguested that the msgq00000x.dat be renamed or removed and restart the service . This didn't help.

BTW, this server has a Seagat DAT 72 SCSI drive

I reinstalled this software twice already. It's getting very frustrating.

I hope someone from Veritas can put a good solution.

Thank you,

Thank you for attending to my question.

System Phatform:
Windows 2003 STD SP1
BE 10.0d
Internal Seagate SCSI DAT72 (Dell branded)
SQL Server 2000

I got the The Backup Exec Server Service did not start. An internal error (-536837662) occurred in object 11. error from the event viewer log.
If I started the service manual from the Services applet, I got the same pop-up message as shown here in figure 2 http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/277214.htm

No. I didn't rename my server after the BE was installed.

I reinstalled and applied BE Version 10.1, Build 5629
and SP1 twice after finding out that the BE service didn't start.

I urgently need this issue resolved due to the fact that this system was put in production mode.

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

This error can occur when port 3527 is in use by another application.
