Throttle Data Flow in Backup Exec 2012

MSelf

Hi,

I am trying to find out if there is a way to "throttle" the amount of data going over a network. We are trying to backup an offsite server. The off site is using a DSL connection to our main site and I would like to use as little of that pipeline as possible. I was told that Backup Exec 10 could do this. We are using Backup Exec 2012 if this is possible can someone describe to me how to accomplish this.

Thanks,

Matt

There is no way to throttle the bandwidth between sites unless you are using optimised duplication between the sites.  To use optimised duplication, you need to set up media servers on both end of the links and both these media servers need to have the dedup option.  You backup to the dedup folder on one end and then duplicate this backup to the dedup folder on the other end.  You would also need the CASO licence to do this.
