Unable to initialize the snapshot because the AOF is no installed

Hi,

I have Backup Exe Veritas Version 10.0 rev 5484 running on a Windows 2003 Sp1..The update installed are :
Service pack 1, hotfixes 14, 23, 16, 7 and 8.
Some jobs terminate with the status failed. The error that I have is " Unable to initialize the snapshot because the Advanced Open File Option (AOFO) is not installed on the target computer". I installed the advanced open file option agent in the remote computer and restarted it but the problem persists. In order to test it I try to backup without the Advanced Open File Option but then I have the same error !. I setup the debug mode. Follow you will find the parts of logs that I find the word error associated to the word snapshot or open file option.

Hi,

What all data is getting backed up? Are you backing up a file server or a database ?

We would like to know which option you are selecting under backup job properties>settings>Advanced Open file option..

Refer the technote given below :

Do revert for any further query

Thank you

Hello,
Let us know:
- What exactly are you backing up?
- Does the error occur while backing up remote server?
- What technology are you using while backing up with AOFO?
Please refer the following Article:
0xe0008524 - Unable to initialize the snapshot because the Advanced Open File Option (AOFO) is not installed on the target computer. You must install this option, restart the computer, and then run the job again.

Hi,

I am backing up folders and system state on a remote server. The technology using AOFO is Microsoft Volume shadow Copy.
I were using for resource credential a user with rights from backup operartor group.
I change the resource credentials with an account with domain administrative rights and now the job is working ok.

Regards,

Hector

Hi,

Additionally you may upgrade to BE v10.0 latest revision 5520 using following link:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/277181.htm

** Run the setup above the current installation, it is not necessary to uninstall previous revision.
