Hello,
we have a new customer with an problem in their backup infrastructure.
As is wanted to push the Backup Agent to a few Servers and also to write down the Serial number, I was unable to open the “Tools -> Serial Numbers and installation” in VERITAS Backup Exec 9.1
The setup.exe starts to open, but close after a minute without any result.
The same for Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> VERITAS Backup exec for windows servers -> change
The customer don’t have any more (it was never handled out) the Package -> Installation CD -> License Key, so I also can’t reinstall the Backup exec (Without any CD and CD-Key)
I’m sorry for my bad grammar, and hope someone can help me.

You could try a "repair" install of BackupExec. The install source can be downloaded from the Product download page at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/downloads.jsp?pid=15047
The installed serial numbers should be in a file named BESERNUM.TXT in the \WINNT directory

Hello,
the "repair" installation doesn't work
But with your Tip for the Serial Number (It was besernum.xml, not .txt) I was able to make a complete reinstallation and now it works again fine without problems.
Thank you, thread can be closed.
