Still no joy unfortunately

Just installed BUE 12.5 on a box runnign Windows Server 2003 and I am able to start all of the BUE services apart from "backUp Exec Agent Browser" and "BackUp Exec Job Engine", they both fail with the error "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start".

Any ideas please?

BE Job Engine service is dependent on BE server service.

The servcies need to be started in a sequence

1) SQL server BKUPEXEC service

2) BE Device and Media service

3) BE Server Service

4) BE Job Engine

5) BE Remote Agent

6) BE Agent Browser( Independent service)

Apart form BE Remote Agent service configure all other BE services with a domain admin account.

Make sure the account isn't locked out as well...this can cause services to not start up!

OK I set the services as discussed above but now when I try to start the BackUp Exec Server Service it still fails and I get the following entries in my event logs:

Tried the first part in the document mentioned and it didnt log anything to the file. Tried the second part but the registry key mentioned is already in the registry and looks correct. Now reinstalling .NET Framework

Tried this again and the file it creates contains nothing.

1. Launch a command prompt on the media server

a. Go to Start

b. Select Run

c. Type in CMD and press Enter

2. Change the path to the Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec directory on the disk partition that Backup Exec is installed on (default is the C: partition). Type in the following and press Enter:

BEServer.exe -console >> C:\BEServer.txt

3. Locate the BEServer.txt file after the runtime error is displayed. Review the document or submit it to Symantec Technical Support for assistance.

As per the Knowledge Base article I have confirmed that the CRF key DOES exist in the registry.

Cause

This issue might occur because of a large backup xml file created in the Data folder.

Nope unfortunately no large backup XML file in that folder

Try renaming the msgq0000000000.dat file to something else, prolly add a suffix such as old & re-try

And this is the error preventing the service from starting -
