Unrecognized Media

Backup Execx 10 SP1 on Windows 2003.

All tapes previously used for backups appear as "Unrecognised Media"

Very similar to the symptons described in http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/234341.htm

I've applied all relevant hotfixes and still have the problem.

Also, and I'm unsure if it's related, I can't run any reports. If I run a report basically, nothing happens

Any ideas greatly appreciated

Are you just wanting to use the tape to backups? Or do you need the data from the tapes? What backup application were those tapes used with?
The TechNote you mention is for legacy versions. Did you try the "MediaFix_233738", mentioned in TechNote ID 233735?

The tapes have only been used with BE 10.

I've un-installed, re-installed. I've updated to the latest build. I've run BEUtil and done all of the database repair stuff The problem is still there. Backups run fine, but that is of no use if I can't read the tapes.

Hi,

- Stop and disable the Removable storage Service.

- Check if the device is listed as "Tested" in the hardware Compatibility list and install the latest device drivers:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/274348

http://support.veritas.com/docs/274347

Heres the weblink where you can download the latest drivers:
http://support.veritas.com/docs/277477

* Also, ensure that the device is not connected to SCSI Target IDs 0,1 or 6.
