Upgrade from 10.d to 12

We have recently purchased version 12 and currently are using 10.d (have current support, but never upgraded to version 11.d) and would like some advice on how to proceed. The new version will be going on the same server, however we are rebuilding this server as the Windows 2003 OS partition is to small so we are adding more disk space and making the partition bigger (also upgrading to 2003 R2 Standard)
After this has been done would we better of reinstalling version 10.d and upgrading to 12 from there or just doing a fresh install of version 12. In either case what will we need to copy from the current server setup to migrate to either the reinstall or the new version? The database currently resides on this server, but plan to move ot to a dedicated Microsoft SQL 2005 server, will that be an issue? Any tips and advice would be much appreciated as I know this won't be an easy process (and without it's problems) Thanks!

if you want to migrate your backup environment (jobs, selection lists, schedules, catalogs etc), I'd follow   http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/280710.htm
to move the v10d install to the newly reconfigured server and then upgrade to v12

(Be sure to read the "Do Not Use If..." near the top)

As far as moving the database to a SQL2005 server, I'd leave it in MSDE if it already is.  Makes a Disaster Recovery sooooo much easier   |8^)
