I have BUE 2012, using WIN 2008 R2. I want to replace the hard drives in my BUE server with bigger drives. What is the best way to accomplish this?

If you're replacing all your HDDs, do the following:

1. Grab copies of your Data/Catalogs folders and place them on another server/external disk. Grab a copy of anything else you would need (ie. BE installation ISO, any downloaded patches etc). Stop your BE services before doing so.

2. Replace the drives, and install Windows Server 2008 R2. Patch, put on the domain etc.

3. Reinstall Backup Exec 2012. Stop the BE services, rename the Data/Catalogs to something else (ie. Data.old) and then copy your backed up Data/Catalogs folders to the new installation directory. As long as your server name is the same, it would be fine to start up the services.

Thanks!

The BUE is on the drive to replace. And the backup to Disk folders are on the other drive.

So You may follow the steps suggested by CraigV , Backup the data and catalog folder , reinstall backup exec, stop the services and replace the data and the catalog folder.

Incase if you are replacing the drive which holds the backups you may create a new abckup to disk folder on the new drive , copy the old backups to the new b2d and then run inventory .
