Dear all expertise,

I have problem when using BEv10 to restore a tape backed by BEv8.x .

I am using BEv10 to inventory and catalog the tape.
Inventory is okay., but an error message " invalid physical volume identifier" is displayed after catalog.

Is there any expertise can help me or direct me to a page which can solve the problem.

Many thank,

Raymond

Hi Raymond,

Stop all Backup Exec services and rename your current Catalogs folder (under Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT) to "Catalogsold" and restart all Backup Exec services, a new catalogs folder should be created.

After that perform an inventory of the tape and before catalogging the tape make sure that under Tools -- Options -- Catalogs -- the option "Use Storage Media Based Catalogs" is unchecked and then perform a catalog.

Verify if you can see the restore selections.

- Regards
