Veritas Hot Fix and Patch Installation Fails

I have attempted to patch BExec 9.1 4691 with both the downloaded 4691.1 updates as well as Service Pack 2. Each attempt to update ends with "ERROR: Ad hoc updates to system catalogs not recommended. Use the RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE statement to force this configuration."

This error is an MSDE 2000 Database error and can easily be duplicated using OSQL. However if the install scripts do not require Reconfigure with OverRide, what is the "Veritas" recommended work around to install these files.

Numerous customers on this forum have described this problem and to date there is no published resolution.

These steps have been taken to date:
1. Repair Database - No errors
2. Database Consistency Check - No errors
3. Reboot of server.
4. Attempt to apply patches. - Same error.

Your recommendations are appreciated.

you said you have tried Repair DB, do you mean you did it from the Beutility?
- If yes, try a Repair Installation from add remove programs and then try installing the SP again.

I have the same problem (BE 9.1 sp2 on win2003) And I cant install any patches....
Did as suggested. No go.
When I do a repair from Add/Remove programs I get the same error:
RROR: Ad hoc updates to system catalogs not recommended. Use the RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE statement to force this configuration.

Do I have to uninstall/reinstall to solve this?
