Vertias 10 sees external USB drive as a server

I have recently installed Veritas 10 on a server. Everything is set up correctly, remote agents, etc...

However when I select a external USB hard drive, it sees this as a server and will not let me select it because it needs the remote agent installed on it. This USB drive does not have a OS on it, and just stores data.

There is no way to install the remote agent on this drive without an OS, so why would veritas see it as a server?

I am running Windows Server 2003 Standard SP1. I have
Veritas 10.5520 installed and working properly. The external USB drive is a Linkstation Buffalo network drive with nothing special on it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Also the Buffalo Linkstation has its own GUI interface, but I dont think that would be the problem.

Hello,

Actually the USB Hard drive should be recognized as a drive letter. Well, you can check the hardware compatibility list of Backup Exec 10.0 to confirm whether this model is tested and supported.

If this helps any, this is a network storage drive that it connected through the network. It is not directly connected to the server in any way other than the network connection.

The external harddrive is no in the list that you gave me. It is a Seagate Harddrive, however its encased in a buffalo shell and has its own GUI interface.

I hope that this gives you a better understanding of what I am talking about.
