Virtual server backup (Server 2008 R2)

Quick question.  I have Backup Exec 12 and am having problems installing remote agent to a Server 2008 R2 virtual server.  Will Backup Exec 12 work with a 2008 virtual server or do I need to upgrade?  If yes, which version do I need to go to?

Thanks

...I'd recommend going all the way to Backup Exec 2010 R3 with Service pack 1. The reason for this is that BE 12.5 came out over 2 years ago, and doesn't back up any of the newer applications like Exchange 2010 or Sharepoint 2010 for example.

Rather than upgrading twice, do it once and get it over-and-done with. You'd need new licenses, so contact your supplier/Symantec licensing for those.

Once done, grab a copy of the Data and Catalogs folders before proceeding with the upgrade. You can read up on how to do that from the Symantec TNs below:

Thanks!

Windows 2008R2 is not in the SCL of BE12.

See: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH56442

You will have to update to at least 12.5 that supports the remote agent on 2008 R2.

Thanks.  That is what I thought the solution would be.  Just wanted it verified.
