Windows 2003 Standard R2 x64 With 64-Bit Xeon Processors

I have a Windows 2003 Standard R2 x64 With 64-Bit Xeon Processors

I'm trying to figure out what my options are, and if what i'm trying should work.

I need to be able to backup using a tape drive in the x64 server.

I have a spare XP machine I can use.

I installed the media server on the XP box, and the remote agent on the server.

I'm not seeing the server in backup exec.

But before i go into a lot of work getting that to work, I want to make sure with the remote agent, I will be able to backup to the tape drive in a remote server.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Who knew trying to advance in technology would be so difficult.

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello,

We would like to know whether the device is attached to Win XP machine or the server?

ALso we would like to inform you that the device should be attached to the machine or server where BE is installed.

Thanks,

The device is attached to the Windows 2003 server, not the XP Box.

Can i not use the remote agent to get access to the drive in the server while the BE Server is on XP?

Thanks,

Patrick

Hello,

No you will have to locally attach the device to the server where BE is installed.

Though you can create backup to disk folders on remote machine.

If you have any other questions please revert.

Thanks,
