hello,

i found out that on one backup exec 11.0 servers AOFO option is on tured on.

All the backup jobs are completed successfuly, on win2003, including excange 2003 and sql 2005.

right now i don't have possibility to test restore.

Is it ok to have AOFO option turned off? Will backup exec use VSS on windows servers?

It does use VSS on windows. However, it is not recommended to use it on Exchange and SQL jobs as such backup sets can't be redirected while restoring.

It is better if you configure a seperate job to backup Exchange and SQL databases without AOFO. Keep all other data in second job with AOFO enabled.

for file backup, if BE could't backup some file becuse it is opened or in use, there would be en error in backup job?

If the files are in use they would be skipped. So for File backups keep the AOFO turned on. Only create a new seperate backup job for Exchange and SQL.
