backup exec 11edia usage question

hi there got a question regarding ther use a of tapes in our job

how does the backup exec use tape order ?

the job will take the media set tapes for starting the job but after which tape will be taken ?

blank tape - overwritable tape and any other tape that are in other media set that are overwriteable ?



which order ?

As per the qeuery you backup about the media selection for the backup Job 
When ever you run backup 1st it check if the media to which it can write is available in the media set  where the backup is targeted . If there is no media to append or to overwrite  it would look for scract media or imorted media as per the option you have set under Tools | option | Media mangment 
Overwrite scratch media before overwriting recyclable media contained in the targeted media set
Overwrite recyclable media contained in the targeted media set before overwriting scratch media

To expand a little on Rahul's response

If BackupExec can see more than one tape in any of the catagories, and that catagory becomes the one that first meets the criteria :

BackupExec will grab the "oldest" tape it can find first.  "oldest" being the one that has been in Overwriteable status longest
