I guess you are taking about the difference between RMALS (Remote Media Agent for Linux Servers) and RALUS (Remote Agent for Linux and Unix System). WIth RMALS, you can attach a tape drive or other media to the Linux server and backup directly to these media. With RALUS, you have to backup to media directly attached to the media server.

Remote agent For Linux is the Agent which you install on the linux server and you need a RALUS license per linux box.Backup exec agent for Linux is one and the same thing, its just the option which you enable .You may refer the following post if you need difference between RMAL and Ralus

To explain the basic difference betwwen RALUS and RMAL
RALUS is a" standard remote agent where your backup devices (backup-to-disk or tape) are connecetd to your Windows Media Server
RMAL includes the (RALUS) remote agent but allows you to connect your tape device directly to your linux based system. It can also be used to create a virtual device that uses disk storage attached to the Lunix system instead of tape"
