must i use this product
Symantec Backup Exec™ 2010 for Windows® Small Business Server
by installing it on the sbs itself
or can i install it on another server
in which he is my media server?

this since i have 3 more servers which i am backuping up
and one of them is my media server
and i think its waste to install backup exec on sbs

also:
my media server is backup exec 12 version
can i use agent license  that is for produt 2010?

As per your previous post you don't want to install Backup Exec on your SBS server. So buy Backup Exec 2010 for standard server and then

install remote agent on your Win 2008 SBS. Since your Exchange 2007 is on your SBS server, you will have to buy a Remote agent for

Exchange explicitly.

Hi Avi

If you have a Win SBS server and if you want to make it as your backup exec server then you will have to install BE2010 for SBS.

The BE2010 media for SBS is available at www.backupexec.com

The license key for BE2010 for SBS will be a bundled license which includes Base product license, Remote agent for exchange and Remote

agent for SQL. Not sure if the 2010 agent license will work with BE12 version.

hi,

i dont wont to make mt sbs my backup exec server.
so as i understand, my only option is to use my
existing backupexec 12 server and add him agent of exchange

so can i buy agent for exchange which is 2010 version
and use it on my  12 version?

Well 2010 remote agent will not work with BE12.

BE12 is compatible with Exchange 2007. However BE12 is not compatible with Win 2008 SBS, below is the link for the

compatibility list. Since your Exchange 2007 is on Win SBS 2008 you will not able to take a backup of Exchange.
