base license required when upgrading backup exec 2012 to 2014

we want to upgrade backup exec 2012 to 2014.

when preparing for upgrade on the licencing part, it request for the base licence for backup exec 2014 otherwise it will install trial licence. we only have renewal licences for backup exec 2014.

By base license, it refers to the Backup Exec 2014 Server license. Even if you do not have the licenses handy, you can perform the upgrade. The product's functionality would still be available in trial mode and once you can confirm with the Licensing team as to which licenses are required, you can then add them.
