Hello everybody,

I need  help with backupexec 11d

We have  setted up two backup jobs - using agent on linux machine: one full once a week, one differential daily. Both are saved into the same mediaset with a OPP of 31 days.

Scenario: on tape A there is the last differential backup, and the tape is full. On tape B there is the only one full backup and the OPP for this tape has ended, so it can be overwritten.

-  Will tape A  be overwritten even if it contains  the only one full backup ?

- is be11d acting as be2012 regarding dlm - as written here http://www.symantec.com/connect/articles/when-backup-sets-are-deleted-under-dlm ?

Thanks for your answers

Irrespective of Full or Differential backup set the Tape will be overwritten during next backup

job if the following is true:

1) Overwrite Protection Period for the tape has ended

2) Backup Job is scheduled to overwrite.

EDIT: For deatiled explanation about overwrite and append period refer to the below article.

DLM is introuduced in BE2012 and its applicable to Disk Backups only.

Hi,

Selections of tapes can't be erased...this is done on the entire tape. Same with BE...it won't erase sections of a tape.

Thanks!
