mail exchange cluster on the backup exec2010

hi all

can i use the normal way "cluster wizard" on the backup exec 2010 to do the cluster in the mail exchange 2010 server with 2 nodes.

From there, you'd select the virtual node in your selection list, and then the Exchange Information Store and any other data shared on the cluster.

This doesn't stop you selecting specific folders on the nodes though...

Are you planning to install Backup Exec on the cluster, or only the Agent ?

...if you have BE installed on the cluster, then the answer is yes, but this mainly sets up BE to run in a cluster, so it adds in the necessary resource groups.

If your Exchange server is a remote server, the answer is no. You'd install RAWS on each node, and in your selection list, select the virtual node's Information Store. This way, should nodes fail over, your backups continue as you're not trying to back up off a possibly inactive node...

i want to ask you can i do the backup job for mail exchange without do the cluster group if i install the BE 2010 in all the mail exchange nodes ,or i must do the cluster group .

...if it's on a cluster, install it correctly. That way you don't have backups not running if nodes fall over to each other.

There is no additional costs to installing BE on a cluster, except for the other license key for a full version of BE if I remember correctly.
