# of server loading for Backup Exec 12.5 with DLO ?

Hi

Currently I am evaluating Desktop and Laptop Option. Then I have a quesiton as below.

1. About server loading,

 P998 of Admin manual says " the number of desktop agents that can successfully back up to one DLO server depends on many factors. However Symantec recommends less than 400 clients per server ....."

Does DLO server mean including DLO maintenance server ? I will plan to bulid one Backup exec 12.5 media server with DLO and some DLO maintenance servers for branch offices.

If DLO server means including DLO maintenance server, I must buy additional lisence for media server.

Please let me know.

  When you install backup exec  DLOon the media server   it installs the Dlo  maintance service by defaULT  . There nothing such as dlo maintainace server , you just istall the DLo maintianance service on the server where you are backing up the Dlo data . If you are planing to install multiple media server you would require multilple lincese for media server and also addtional lincese

If # of client PCs are 600,

 1st DLO Server:  400 clients with Backup exec with DLO,
 2nd DLO maintenance server:  200 clients with DLO maintenance server.

Is this plan correct ? Please let me know.
