Hello,
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH49563
Backup Exec Desktop and Laptop Option Ports:
Service or Process | Port | Port Type |
---|---|---|
Server Message Block (SMB) communication | 135-139 | TCP/UDP |
Server Message Block (SMB) communication without NETBIOS | 445 | TCP/UDP |
SQL | 1434 | TCP/UDP |
DLOAdminSvcu.exe (DLO admin service) | 3999 in listening mode | TCP/UDP |
Yes, these all between client and server both directions
Hope this helps...

I just realised if my SQL server is also sitting on mhy admin server then i would need to open the SQL port right?
Also what does it mean by listening? only one direction i.e. does it mean only from client to server and not server to client?

Hi
Yes one direction will be only from client to server so I would recommend to do it bidirectionally so that you will not have issue during the communication vice versa
Your sql server is sitting on admin server mean where your DLO is installed is that the case yes you please open port for SQL too so that when client accessing the main DLO server will not have any issue
Thank You
