Hi Yobo,

A number of ways to do this:

1. Directly from tape.
2. Stage to disk, and then restore.

I use #2, and wrote an article on it, which you can read here:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/restoring-exchange-or-individual-mailboxesitems-using-backup-exec-howto

It does work, and I have done this a number of times, including a full disaster recovery of a server.

Hello,

I have searched the entire Symantec support site, but did not find any document on step-by-step restoration of a single email using backup exec.

Please go through the article it might be helpful

When restoring a individual item you have to just have to make the selection for the individual item and let the other settings be default and run the restore

If you are running a restore from tape make sure you have enough disk space on the media server for staging ...as the entire backup set would be staged on the media server ..
You change the location from restore Job proerties --Advance tab .

Also you have options to redirect to a different mailbox which you can use .
Most of the setting On the MS exchange tab in the restore job properties are for the complete store restore ...but when individual item is selected for restore the rest of the settings are ignored .

hope that helps
