Hello everyone,

I'm using BackupExec 2010 R2 (patched to SP1 and two hotfixes after that) and getting the error referred to in the subject when restoring individual mailbox items from an incremental VMware backup of our Exchange 2003 server. Everything about the error message and everything I've seen so far in other forums has talked about having the proper credentials and using the correct network account, how to setup the account, etc. I'm aware of the 5 steps to creating the account, and I do have this setup correctly. I believe this error message to be incorrect, because I am not having issues with the backup of this server, nor am I having any issue whatsoever with a restore from the Full backup (just the incremental). Basically, I think there is another issue here, and the error message is bogus. (I also have other words to describe it, but I'll stick with bogus for now  :) )

Hey Rob,

there is my first question from where you try to restore the Mailbox / Items ? Do you do this from Tape or from Backup2Disk folder ?

Anyway I think it can get only clear from the Debug log. Do you have some more information from the Job Log ?

Having the exact same issue trying to recover a single users Calendar items.  Has anyone found a fix for this?

I'm getting the same error message and I'm backing up to tape.  Everything goes well until it reaches the MS Exchange store.  Anyone have an answer to this?

Same issue as RatPack.  Upgraded to 2010 R2, tested all credentials, everything works fine, tape is ready to go, backup starts and fails when it hits the store.  Not good.  need to get a backup ASAP.

I have the same Issue, Using Backup Exec 2010 R2 with Exchange 2010! Backup to Disk from a Vmware Maschine...

Same error here. When trying to back up exchange 2003 with BE2010 job failes:

V-79-57344-766 - Cannot log on to MAPI with the specified credentials. Review the resource credentials for the job, and then run the job again.

Backup jobs even keeps running, altough i've set a max. time... (have to cancel the job)

Help wanted
