Remove files no longer selected

I've recently found a misconfiguration in our backup selections resulting in DLO backing up every file and folder in the user's profile. I'm remedying the problem and I had read somewhere that DLO will delete all files no longer part of a backup selection. I'm unable to locate the article now so my question is will DLO automatically purge the files or will I need to delete the data manually?

Thanks!

Hi Jake,

Please refer the below article:

Thanks,

Hi Santosh,

Thanks for the response. I assume from that article that DLO treats the unselected files the same as files deleted by the user and will remove them after the deleted file retention period has passed. However in my testing I've found that not to be the case. Even if I go into the Desktop Agent and manually remove deleted files the backup set doesn't change. I found this article the other day:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH208838

Does that still apply? Will I need to recreate the backup sets if I want to eliminiate the unselected files entirely?

Thanks again for your help.

The KB applies specifically when global excludes are configured for backup selection exclusions.

Delete ".settings" folder from path C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Symantec\DLO on the client machine. Re-launch the DLO Agent on the client machine so that it retrieves new settings from the new media server. Check if the excluded files are being removed from the storage locations or not.
