Archived mails and disaster recovery ?

Hello everyone,

Probably a stupid question, but I want to make sure.

Suppose the following:
Within EV8 the vault store properties "Remove Safety Copies" are set to immediately after archive, and somewhere during the day the Enterprise Vault server crashes. A new Enterprise Vault server has to be installed, everything is restored, what happens to archived mails from the time period between the last backup and the crash of the server?

To my knowledge they are gone, because of the remove safety copies setting, or am I wrong?

nope, if its not backed up Enterprise Vault has changed the original item in Exchange to a shortcut. So there is no copy of it, that's why there is a option and default to "Use Safety Copy"

Correct,

You would have orphaned shortcuts.. AKA Data Loss.

And no option to recover them then?
