Archiving Voice Mails?

Carl_Swanson

We are looking at switching to Cisco Unity to put voice mails into our mailboxes and do not what these items archived by EV. Is there a messageclass that can be added so we can exclude those items? OR I believe they come through as .wav files can individual file extensions be exlcuded from archiving?

-Thanks

Currently on Exchange 2003 sp2..... hopefully upping to 2010 sp1 next year

Currently on EV 9.01

Also a quick check on the internet suggests the message class is IPM.Note.Voice.Unity

So you would do the following
1. Open up the Vault Admin Console
2. Right click "Directory on YourServer" and go to Properties
3. Go to the Exchange Message Classes tab
4. Press Add and then for class put in "IPM.Note.Voice*" and give it a description
5. Press OK then OK again
6. Expand out Policies -> Exchange -> Mailbox and go to the properties of your Policy
7. Go to "Message Classes" tab and make sure IPM.Note.Voice* is unchecked
8. Synchronize your mailboxes for this change to take effect

What you can do is if you go to the inbox where the voice mails are, press the little Document button (looks like a sheet of paper) and it will sort them by Document types

So everything of IPM.Note* will be grouped, all the EV shortcuts will be grouped and also all your voice mails will be grouped, use that message class to add it to the message class tab on the Site Properties, then in the Archiving Policies, make sure you have that class deselected and unchecked so that it will skip them.

then if you want another group to archive them, check them and have that policy assigned to another provisioning group etc

Great! Thanks!  Right now were using Call Pilot for just a few and it's a separate mailbox. We're looking to make the switch to VOIP and some UC stuff. This defnitley helps!

Just a thought. Should I re-add the IPM.Note without the asterick since we probably will be having a different policy for voice messages.
