Hi,
We want to create a batch file that will allow a helpdesk operator to move a user/group share from one cluster to another. We are using robocopy to copy non-archived files, and ignore those with offline bit set. When this has been completed, we wanted to run FSAUtility to move the placeholders to the new location. How handy would it if the FSAUTILITY could move archived and non archived files rather than the two step process! But we cannot run the FSAUTILITY using an account other than the vault admin account. We went into the role administration tab and gave a test account all rights as defined there. THis account also has access to all user and group shares. But it then generated the error:Error: Internal Error Moving Placeholders: Invalid item Urn. The same process worked when using the vault service account. As we will not give out the vault service account, is there any method of getting the other account to work?

I believe that you do need to be the VSA to run FSAUTILITY. On your other point this is a tool to deal with our placeholders so why would we introduce an option to move normal files????

Because we want to give an account that can move placeholders, but not do other EV tasks. Most other actions can be carried out using an other account, but not this. There is a interface to assign granular rights, but the FSAUTILITY is not included.
Paul, it would be handy to move an entire user share with both archived and non archived files using a single tool. We are not the only organisation that has requested such an implementation of the FSAUTILITY.
So can the FSAUTILITY be ran by anything other than the VSA?

No to run FSAUTILITY you need to run it as the VSA. What I would personally do is moved your non archived files with robocopy then use FSAUTILITY for the archived files that will be left. You could script this as well.
