Change the EV installed directory

Hi,
We have installed the EV 7.5 on the main C drive. We are using Enterprise Vault for the mailbox archiving. Due to the space issue I want to move the EV folders to other drives. I’ll appreciate if you can share any procedure to resolve the problem. Is there any TechNote available or any one of you has done this activity.

Look forward for the reply.

Maged.

Hi,

Which EV folders are you refering too, the EV binaries take up little space compare to indexes and vault store partitions, if you wish to move either of these then take a look at

move indexes
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/273141.htm

move vault store partition
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/273271.htm

If you wish to change the install location of the EV binaries on the same server, you should be able to uninstall the binaries and then install in the same location.  Make sure you you dont upgrade during this process.  I personally have not tested this but I cannot see why this would not work,.

If you were thinking of moving to a complete new server then this would help

Hi,
Thank you for the reply. I am interested to move EV base binaries from C drive to other local drive. My plan is to,

1.     Uninstall the EV server from C drive
2.     Install the EV server on the other drive
3.     Restore the data from the Backup to new drive to restore the all configuration
4.     Run the Configuration Wizard
I hope that will work, do you have any idea or any other suggestion.

Hi,

You should only need to perform steps 1 & 2.  what are you restoring from backup ?

If all you want to do is change the location of the binariy files, then excluding moving indexes, vault store paritions as PJuster mentioned, you can uninstall the binaries and then re-install them in new location. You can then attach to the existing database and you will be up and running.  Basically like a Disaster Recovery Scenario for the EV server as covered in Admin Guide.
