Could not connect to the Enterprise Vault Directory despite running services

Could someone help me out here?

I needed a restore of a specif mail from 2 years ago. The mailbox has allready been deleted from the archive however. We're using Enterprise Vault 6.

I cloned our current enterprise vault and domain controller in an internal network. We also had a seperate SQL server. I installed SQL server on the Vault server and succesfully restored the databases EnterriseVaultDirectory and EVMailboxStore01. It's running and userrole dbo withloginname Domaiin\admin and Domain\VaultServacc has the dbo role. On evmailboxstore01 is dbo with loginname domain\vaultservacc also dbo. ALL de vaultservices are running.

However. While I try to click the button Change Direcory SQL server I still get  Could not connect to the Enterprise Vault Directory on 'Vaultserver01' . Check that 'VAULTSERVER01' is available on the network and that the Enterprise Vault Directory Service is running.   message. It is running. So is IIS.

can you make sure that the VAULTSERVER01 resolves to your DR machine and other DNS aliases such as site aliases resolve

You said seperate SQL server. Is the SQL server the same name as the one in the live environment? If not you need to update the VaultStoreEntry table in the Enterprisevaultdirectory database to reflect the new database server name

Also you will need to do a data only DR which can be found in the admin guide to link the EV server back to the SQL server

Hi Scanner001. The SQL server did not have the same name as production. I installed it on the same as de Enterprise Vault. I've managed to edit the DatabseDSN cell to reflict it to the Enterprise Vault. I restarted the SQL service as well as all the Vault services.

I still get Could not connect to the Enterprise Vault Directory on 'Vaultserver01'  messages.

Hi hando, if the steps from tony doesn't work, try uninstalling EV, reinstall EV, when running through the wizard point EV to the SQK instance on the EV server.

Tony's guide to the steps worked well. (I cannot beleive missed that because I moved de database myself not even a year ago...)

However, I have some difficulties accessing/exploring the mailbox. Could well be IIS related... (IIS5)

I can access http://vaultserver01/enterprisevault and show the searchpage. But every search ends up in Failed to perform the search reques.

Also the url http://vaultserver01/enterprisevault/archiveexplorerui.asp is NOT accessable from the vaultserver. It does work from the cloned dc, but the mailboxes cannot be searched. I do see the folders. But that's it.

When accessing from the vault Console it wants credentials. But no account has access. Er.. I don't need an exchange server do I?

I guess it's my bad. I only recovered vault\storage\mailboxstore01\MailboxStore1Ptn1\ the folders 2008 and 2009. I now have issues in the eventviewer:

Search reguest failed

Reason: The Altavista index is not open [0xc0041c64]

But i could eventually export to PST. I wanted the mail, and I got the mail. Thanx!
