Creating Resources on a Cluster

I created the Drives as the document requersted:

■ Volume I: MSMQ data
■ Volume J: Indexing service data
■ Volume K: Vault store data
■ Volume L: PST holding folders, Shopping service data,EMCCentera
staging areas

Now, what does the document mean:

To set up the Enterprise Vault cluster services for a Windows Server failover cluster
1 Use Failover Cluster Manager to create and name the cluster service.
Note: When Failover Cluster Manager prompts you to select the service or
application that you want to configure for high availability, select Other
Server.
2 In the Properties of the cluster service, specify the nodes that are to be the
preferred owners of this cluster service. List the nodes in the preferred order,
according to your chosen operation mode.
3 Add the prerequisite resources to the cluster service. Add one resource of
each resource type listed in the table, except where noted. We recommend
you use the following naming format for the resources"

Does this mean to create a new service? For Example EV-Cluster Service and put all the resources under it?

Are there any examples of the end result of how my cluster services and resources are configured?

I am running windows 2008 R2, so maybe the instructions was written for 2003 and that is why it is confusing.

Thanks

I think and please someone correct me if I am wrong, those settings are only available on Windows2003 cluster.

Sounds like you are ready for the EV install and config.

That's exactly what it means, you are creating the cluster resource group, then adding all the pre-reqs into it. client access ip, shared disks, msmq.

Once it is completed, you should be able to failover the group to both nodes successfully.

Then you can install EV on both nodes and run EV configuration, which will detect th cluster group you created above and install the required EV services into it.

I actually followed this link which was a great help. https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/how-install-ev-80-mscs

In the doc it says for Client Access Point to do the following: ■ We recommend that
you check DNS
Registration Must
Succeed.
■ Check Enable
Kerberos
Authentication. This
is required by the
Message Queuing
resource.

Where is that set? I do not see that under properties.

With the current configurations, i was able to failover and back sucessfully.

Is the doc I followed correct?
